1. Agreement to Terms
By scheduling an appointment, providing samples, or using any service from Paternity Verified ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
2. Services Provided
Paternity Verified is a mobile DNA sample collection service. We:
- Collect buccal (cheek) swab samples and, for prenatal testing, maternal blood samples
- Document chain of custody for legal tests
- Transfer samples to an independent AABB-accredited laboratory for analysis
- Deliver results to you once received from the lab
We are a sample collection service, not a laboratory. All DNA analysis is performed by an independent AABB-accredited laboratory partner.
3. Eligibility
To use our services, you must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. For legal (chain-of-custody) tests, all adult participants must present valid government-issued photo identification. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can authorize the test.
4. Scheduling and Appointments
- Appointments may be scheduled by phone, text, or email during business hours (9 AM – 9 PM Pacific, 7 days/week)
- Last appointment start time is 7:30 PM Pacific
- We are closed on major U.S. holidays
- We come to your home, workplace, or any mutually agreed location within our service area
- Travel within 20 miles of 92585 is included; travel beyond is subject to a fee ($25–$200) quoted upfront
5. Payment Terms
Payment is due at or before the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Accepted methods: credit cards, debit cards, cash, and electronic invoices/payment links
- Refunds: available only if cancellation occurs before the collection appointment. Once samples are collected and submitted to the lab, fees are non-refundable.
- Failed payments: may result in delayed or withheld results until payment is received
- Pricing: all prices are subject to change. The price quoted at scheduling is what you will pay.
6. Cancellation and Rescheduling
- You may cancel or reschedule an appointment by contacting us as soon as possible
- Cancellations or no-shows on the day of the scheduled appointment may incur a trip fee equal to any extended travel fee that would have applied
- If we must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances (weather, illness, etc.), we will offer to reschedule at no additional cost
7. Legal (Chain-of-Custody) Tests
Legal DNA tests are court-admissible and follow strict protocols:
- All adult participants must present unexpired government-issued photo identification
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with custodial authority
- The collector must witness sample collection without interruption
- Chain-of-custody paperwork must be completed at the time of collection
- Tests where chain of custody is broken or documentation is incomplete may be invalidated by the lab
- Results from peace-of-mind (non-legal) tests cannot be used in court
8. Results and Limitations
- Standard turnaround is typically 3–5 business days from when the lab receives samples, though this is not guaranteed
- Results are delivered electronically or as a hardcopy upon request (additional fee may apply)
- Test accuracy is typically 99.99%+ for inclusions and 100% for exclusions, but no test is absolute
- Prenatal (NIPP) tests have specific requirements: minimum 10 weeks gestation, no twin/multiple pregnancies, and rare biological factors may affect testing
- The lab determines whether a sample is testable; if a sample is deemed insufficient, recollection may be required
9. Participant Responsibilities
By participating in a DNA test, you represent that:
- The information you provide (names, dates of birth, IDs) is accurate
- You have the legal authority to authorize testing of any minors you bring
- You are not impersonating another person or providing false identification
- You understand the nature of the test and the potential emotional impact of the results
10. Prohibited Uses
You may not use our services to:
- Collect samples from a person without their knowledge or consent
- Misrepresent the identity of any test participant
- Submit samples not from the named participants
- Use results obtained for any unlawful purpose
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, at our sole discretion, including if we suspect fraudulent or unlawful intent.
11. Disclaimers
OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We make no warranties about:
- The acceptance of results by any court, agency, or other third party
- The emotional, relational, or legal consequences of test results
- The timing of result delivery, which depends on the lab's processing schedule
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO OUR SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE.
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, RELATIONSHIP IMPACT, LOST WAGES, OR LEGAL EXPENSES ARISING FROM TEST RESULTS.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your provision of false or misleading information
- Your unauthorized use of test results
- Your violation of any law or third-party rights
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or our services shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Riverside County, California.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
